What if I am having a mental health crisis?

Counselors are available 24/7/365. The call is free and confidential.

What type of insurance do you accept?

We accept Medicare, Medicaid, private pay, and commercial insurance.  We also accept the uninsured, offering scholarships and a sliding fee scale.  Our finance department is available to help. 

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, credit card, and checks. We offer payment plans and paying through your patient portal. Call if you need assistance in setting these up. 

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. To accommodate all of our clients, we require at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellation or rescheduling requests. 

  • Late Cancellations and No-Shows: Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed without any notification will be recorded as a late cancellation or no-show.   
  • Policy Enforcement: Clients with three or more late cancellations or no-shows in a 12-month period may be subject to discharge from our practice. 

Do you offer in-home care?

We do not; our services are on-site Monday through Friday. 

Do you provide services for caregivers?

We make a point of caring for caregivers.  We offer a variety of services that provide respite for family members caring for loved ones.  Other services provided are coaching, condition-specific education and workshops, and support groups.  For more information, please call us at (815)338-3590 

Does Independence Health & Therapy offer transportation?

Transportation services are a central component of all our programs.  All clients, regardless of program, are eligible for door-to-door transportation. 

Why are some telehealth appointments required to be in an Independence Health & Therapy office?

Telehealth appointments that are in-office at Independence Health & Therapy provide safety, consistency, privacy, and reliable technology during each session. Please discuss with your individual provider (psychiatrist or counselor) whether you can be approved for in-home telehealth visits. 

Do you provide couples counseling?

We currently do not have providers specializing in marriage/relationship counseling.  

Do you treat eating disorders?

Eating disorders are best served by those who specialize in these areas. We will be happy to provide resources to you. 

Can I receive substance abuse treatment at Independence Health & Therapy?

If you have a history of addiction, we are here to support your recovery and overall well-being. However, if you are currently using substances, we can help connect you with appropriate treatment and referral resources.
